It feels a bit odd to write about Jobbágytelke (Sâmbrias in Romanian), a small village in the centre of Romania I feel connected to. Not only because of family relations but also because of the time spend (a lot of holidays and work) in the village and surrounding farmland.
I have planned to spend more photography on this beautiful village not only for creating memories but also to give it the attention and respect it really earns.
For me Jobbágytelke is a small village were you can become old at a normal pace. Most changes do not happen over night. A village with a lot of old traditional Transylvanian housing, fragmented agricultural parcels and an annual festival of traditional dance. A village where people still greet each other and do have small talks between their daily work. A lot of the older people still live the “szekely way”. It is a simple but an intense hard working way of life with a real connection to nature.
Last holiday I did take some images of the village during a visit at the cemetery. More photographs of the village, housing and if permitted of the way of life will follow in time.
